How did you get your break in the design world?

“It started by people asking me for help and my ignorance was a beautiful bliss in the situation. People started liking what I would do, and having no rules I just did what felt right and what felt good, and that is still my approach to design.”

What role does design play in your life?

“It’s almost everything for me. I say almost because I have kids, but it’s really how I see the world. Every single thing, whether we love it or don’t, was designed—even nature was designed by mother nature. Our surroundings play such an incredible part in our world—including with our mental health—which is very valuable. I feel very grateful to be able to walk through life looking at it that way. It makes things beautiful.”

Are your clients interested to know the background and the stories behind the pieces you bring in?

“It’s a mix. I have clients who are so curious to know everything down to the stitching on something, and others who let me know what they need and don’t want to be an everyday part of the process. It seems to be so personal to people and I respect that. Sometimes, though, I will get excited and start telling them about something because I just can’t help myself.”
